محافظة الدرعية هي المحافظة الأولى في المملكة العربية السعودية. يحدها من الشمال محافظة حريملاء ومن الجنوب محافظة ضرما ومدينة الرياض ومن الشرق مدينة الرياض ومن الغرب حريملاء ومحافظة ضرما وتبلغ مساحتها 2020 كلم2 ويبلغ عدد سكانها 74 ألف نسمة، وبها آثار بلدة الدرعية القديمة التي كانت عاصمة الدولة السعودية الأولى.
كما تقع ضمن حدود المحافظة مركز العيينة والجبيلة التي يقع بها منتزه شعيب الحيسية وكلية الملك عبد العزيز الحربية. أيضا يقع مركز سدوس ضمن حدود المحافظة و يتولى شؤون هذه المحافظة صاحب السمو الأمير أحمد بن عبد الله بن عبد الرحمن آل سعو محافظ محافظة الدرعية.
في سنة 2010، أعلنت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للعلوم والتربية والثقافة أن حي الطريف في مدينة الدرعية موقع تراث عالمي، وبذلك يصبح ثاني موقع في السعودية ينضم إلى قائمة مواقع التراث العالمي إلى جانب مدائن صالح.
التقسيمات الإدارية للمحافظة
تنقسم الدرعية إدارياً إلى مدينة واحدة هي الدرعية، وإلى 6 مراكز إدارية كالآتي:
1- مركز العيينة والجبيلة: تقع العيينة في شمال غرب الدرعية على مسافة 30 كيلاً، وتقع الجبيلة في شرق العيينة على مسافة 7 كيلو متر. بها من الدوائر الحكومية: دفاع مدني، فرع زراعي، محكمة، كتابة عدل، بلدية، مركز هيئة، شرطة، مكتب بريد، ومكتبة عامة. ويقطنها 24931 نسمة.
2- مركز العمارية: تقع العمارية في شمال الدرعية على مسافة 25 كيلاً، ويقطنها 24931 نسمة.
3- مركز سلطانة: تقع شمال الدرعية على مسافة 35 كيلو، ويقطنها 1331 نسمة.
4- مركز سدوس: تقع في شمال غرب الدرعية على مسافة 53 كيلاً، ويقطنها 926 نسمة.
5- مركز حزوى: تقع في شمال غرب الدرعية على مسافة 60 كيلاً، ويقطنها 137 نسمة.
6- مركز بوضة (هجرة المفاقيع): تقع في شمال غرب الدرعية على مسافة 38 كيلاً، ويقطنها 443 نسمة.
Al-Dir'iyyah Governorate is a governorate (muhafazah) within Riyadh Region in Saudi Arabia. The governorate is bounded by the Saudi capital city of Riyadh to the south and east, by Dhruma Governorate to the south and west, and by Huraymla Governorate to the north. The governorate is seated in the city of al-Dir'iyyah, the original hometown of the House of Saud, which served as the capital of the Saudi dynasty from 1744 to 1818. The population of the governorate was 60,777 at the time of the 2004 census, including 18,040 non-Saudis. 34,117 live in the city of al-Dir'iyyah itself.
Several towns and villages are included within the governorate, most of which are situated along the valley known as Wadi Hanifa or its tributaries. These include al-'Ammariyyah, al-Uyaynah, al-Jubaylah, and Sadus.
The area contains several historic sites. These include the ruins of the old city of al-Dir'iyyah
The governorate also houses the Saudi army's King Abdul Aziz Military College at al-Uyayna.

Diriyah Governorate is the first province in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is bordered to the north by the Governorate of Harimela, and from the South by the Governorate of Darma and the City of Riyadh, and from the East, the City of Riyadh, and from the West, the City of Haremla and the Governorate of Darma.
Also within the governorate borders are Al-Ayyinah and Al-Jubaila Center, in which the Shuaib Al-Hisiyah Park and King Abdulaziz War College are located. Also, the Sadous Center is located within the boundaries of the governorate and the affairs of this governorate are handled by His Highness Prince Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al Sa`, Governor of Al-Dir'iyah Governorate.
In 2010, the United Nations Science, Education and Culture Organization declared that Al-Turaif district in the city of Diriyah is a World Heritage Site, thus becoming the second site in Saudi Arabia to join the list of World Heritage Sites in addition to Madain Saleh.
The administrative divisions of the province
Ad-Diriyah is divided administratively into one city, which is Ad-Diriyah, and into 6 administrative centers as follows:
1- Al-Ayyinah and Al-Jubaila Center: Al-Ayyinah is located in the northwest of Al-Diriyah at a distance of 30 kilometers, and Al-Jubaila is located in the east of Al-Ayyinah at a distance of 7 km. It includes government departments: civil defense, agricultural branch, court, notary public, municipality, office center, police, post office, and public library. And it is inhabited by 24,931 people.
2- Al-Amariyah Center: Al-Ammariah is located in the north of Diriyah at a distance of 25 km, and it is inhabited by 24931 people.
3- Sultana Center: It is located 35 km north of Diriyah, and is inhabited by 1331 people.
4- Sadous Center: It is located in the northwest of Ad-Diriyah at a distance of 53 km, and is inhabited by 926 people.
5- Hazwa Center: It is located in the northwest of Al-Dara'iyah, 60 km away, and is inhabited by 137 people.
6- Boudha Center (Mare Migration): It is located in the northwest of Diriyah at a distance of 38 km, and it is inhabited by 443 people.

"Ad-Diriyya Governorate Building" - 2016
Ad-Diriyyah doesn't only have traditional looking Buildings. There is also this Saudi/Najdi guturistic designed governmental buildings.

The façade looks like it's made out of copper but it's actually made out of synthetic-plates and it has all those triangle shapes inspired by the traditional Najdi architecture.

In 2016 it won the first place at an architecture award organized by riyadh development.
