About the Deanship: 1. The Deanship of Library Affairs at Taibah University was established with the establishment of the university in 1424 AH, and the library of the College of Education - which was established in 1377 AH - is the first nucleus of the current university library system - and the Deanship seeks to spread information awareness and enrich knowledge in the university community. 2. The Deanship assumes its role in supporting scientific, academic and research activities, by providing sources and knowledge vessels in their traditional and electronic forms, in addition to processing available information and preparing it for the university’s staff members, students, administrators, and technicians, as well as for its pioneers and researchers from inside and outside the university. 3. The Deanship directly supervises all the university’s central libraries, both male and female, and the branch colleges libraries of the university. The number of Taibah University libraries currently stands at (17), and the Deanship seeks to limit the intellectual production of the university’s employees in order to encourage scientific production and exchange it between universities, and the Deanship is working on building and developing a digital repository for the university’s intellectual production. To organize this production and its prospectus and its exchange between universities. 4. Immediately after its establishment in 1424 AH, the Deanship began to automate the library, automate it technical procedures, and use modern automatic indexing in the library. The Deanship attracted an expert in automatic indexing. This is to train the library staff and to localize expertise in the national cadres. 5. Starting in the year 1430 AH, the Deanship developed and established a number of subsidiary libraries in the newly established and annexed faculties of the university. In order to meet all the needs of the employees in terms of providing the necessary information for the educational process. 6. After the Deanship has completed the automation of all technical processes and services, the Deanship is currently working on providing electronic containers, digitizing their vessels, and building a sophisticated repository for the intellectual production of the university and its employees.
