Responsibilities of the Public Prosecution: First: Specific competence: The Public Prosecution Office in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in accordance with Article 3 of its system, is competent to: 1. Oversight and inspection of prisons, detention centers, and any places where criminal sentences are implemented, listening to the complaints of prisoners and detainees, verifying the legality of their imprisonment or arrest, and the legality of their stay in prison or detention centers after the expiry of the period, and taking the necessary measures to release those who were imprisoned or detained of them without a legitimate reason, applying what the regulations stipulate against those responsible, informing His Highness the Minister of Interior of the observations that appear in this regard, and submitting a report to His Highness every six months on the condition of prisoners and detainees. 7. Any other competencies assigned to it under the laws or regulations issued in accordance with the Authority's system, decisions of the Council of Ministers, or supreme orders. Among this is what was stated in the Noble Royal Decree No. (M/4) dated 5/1/1433 AH, which transfers the jurisdiction of the Control and Investigation Authority related to the investigation and public prosecution in the criminal offenses undertaken by the Control and Investigation Authority such as bribery, forgery and the crimes stipulated in the Noble Royal Decree No. (M). /43) and dated 11/29/1377 AH to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution. Second: Spatial Jurisdiction: The Commission’s territorial jurisdiction includes all crimes that occur within the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, except for those exempted from them by a system or rules issued by the Council of Ministers. Its jurisdiction also includes crimes that occur outside the Kingdom if the judicial authority in the Kingdom is competent to consider them in accordance with the regulations or treaties to which the Kingdom is a party. .
