It was called by this name because it contains the bodies of seventy of the noble Companions who were martyred in the Battle of Uhud
Among them is the uncle of the Prophet Hamzah bin Abdul Muttalib, nicknamed the Lion of God.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ مقبرة شهداء أحد أحد أهم المعالم الإسلامية في المدينة المنورة، تقع شمال المسجد النبوي على بعد 5 كم.[1] سميت بهذا الاسم لأنها تضم أجساد سبعين من الصحابة الكرام الذين استشهدوا في غزوة أحد ومنهم عم النبي حمزة بن عبد المطلب الملقب بأسد الله، وقد سمي بهذا الاسم لشجاعته، تقع المقبرة عند قاعدة جبل أحد حيث قام المسلمون بدفن شهدائهم السبعين بعد انتهاء المعركة، فيهم أسد الله حمزة بن عبد المطلب ومصعب بن عمير رضي الله عنهما. ولهذا الجبل مكانة متميزة في نفوس المسلمين، جاءت في فضله الأحاديث العظيمة ويكفي فيه قوله «أحد جبل يحبنا ونحبه». تضم المقبرة أيضًا قبرا الصحابيان عبد الله بن جحش وحنظلة بن أبي عامر.
Martyrs’ Cemetery, one of the most important Islamic monuments in Medina, is located 5 km north of the Prophet’s Mosque.[1] It was called by this name because it contains the bodies of seventy of the honorable companions who were martyred in the Battle of Uhud, including the uncle of the Prophet Hamzah bin Abdul Muttalib, nicknamed “The Lion of God.” He was named by this name for his bravery. God Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib and Musab bin Omair, may God be pleased with them. This mountain has a special place in the hearts of Muslims, great hadiths came about its virtues, and it suffices to say, “One mountain loves us and we love it.” The cemetery also includes the tombs of the two companions Abdullah bin Jahsh and Hanzala bin Abi Amer.
