Fantastic destination with frequent art & history exhibitions. The building itself has a great historical significance along with gorgeous views on the city.

History buffs, this one is for you! A look at this iconic century-old house in al balad- the Sharbatly House. Built in 1930, this historic structure boasts some lovely Hejazi mashrabiyya (wooden lattice balconies). It's the former home of the wealthy Sharbatly family, who remain the country's leading name in fruit and veg distribution. Restored in the 1980s, the house is closed for sometime but they recently opened for the public. Here you can indulge yourself with the awesome calligraphy paintings on display. And what’s dope about it is they opened a cafe and roastery at the rooftop-giving you a good glimpse of the old balad area with all the historical buildings around. The samara drink I had was unfortunately not that sweet, but the amazing view was all worth it. So I can say-there’s still room for improvement since it’s just new. They also have wooden stacking block games. The owner was there to personally assist everyone-he’s so accommodating. Even if you can't get in, this is still a building worth admiring.

So happy to stumble on this place right in the middle of chaos and constructions/renovations around the historic Jeddah. So we decided to stroll and when we learn that this century old house owned by Sharbatly family is open and there's even a coffee shop on the roof top. Unfortunately, the place is packed so we weren't able to get a table. Nevertheless, I got to see the house with its displayed mementos and framed calligraphy. It's free, no entrance fee with free water and welcoming host/front desk.
