★ ★ ★ ★ ★ عن أبي ذر رضي اللّه عنه أن رسول اللّه قال:
بينما رجلٌ يمشي بطريق اشتدَّ عليه العطشُ. فوجد بئرا فنزل فيها، فشرب، ثم خرج، فإِذا كلبٌ يلهَثُ، يأكل الثَّرَى من العطش. فقال الرجل: "لقد بَلَغَ هذا الكلبَ من العطش مثلُ الذي كان قد بلغ مني ".
فنزل البئرَ، فملأ خفَّه ماءً، ثم أمسكه بفيه حتى رقِي فسقى الكلب. فشكر الله له، فغفر له.
قالوا: "يا رسول اللّه، وإن لنا في البهائم أجرا؟ ". فقال: " في كل كبِد رطبة أجرٌ".

From Abu Dharr may Allah be pleased with him that the Messenger of Allah said:
While a man walks by a thirsty road. And he found a well and he went down in it, and he drank it, and then he went out. If a dog is panting, he eats the wealth from thirst. The man said, "This dog is thirsty like he had reached me."
Then he brought down the well, and filled it with water. God thanked him, so forgive him.
They said: "O Messenger of God, and we have wages in the beasts?" He said: "In every wet liver wage."
