It was all narrated by Ahmad and the men of the two narrations, the men of al-Sahih, other than Sharik bin Abdullah al-Nakha'i, and it is a good hadith, but he differed in hearing Muhammad bin Ka'b from Ali and God knows best.

Ali said: Or were you not? I said: Yes, he said: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, called Abu Bakr, so he made a brigade for him and then dispatched him. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:
“To give the banner a man who loves God and His Messenger, and God and His Messenger loves him, and God opens it to him, not by fleeing.” So he sent and I came to him while I did not see anything. So my ears are not hot or cold yet.
