★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The treaty of Hudaybiyyah also known as Sulah Hudaibiya was one of the events that took place during the initial stages of Islam.
It was a treaty between Madina, represented by Prophet Muhammad PBUH and Makkah, Quraish tribe on March 628 (as per Islamic date, Dhu Al Qudah 6th AH).
This treaty helped to resolve the conflict between two cities, Makkah and Madinah, ensuring a 10 years peace clause which was authorized by Muhammad PBUH’s followers to come back following years in peaceful pilgrimage, which is also known as The First Pilgrimage of Islam.
In 628, Prophet Muhammad PBUH along with 1,400 other Muslims went to Makkah to perform Umrah, without carrying arms and to respect the treaty of Hudaybiah between Makkah and Madinah. They were dressed as pilgrims having sacrificial animals along with them, hoping Quraish tribe would give them a warm welcome.
Muslims were in Ihram, which means there was no sign of arms or anything.
Prophet Muhammad PBUH with his fellow Muslims camped outside Makkah. Later, Prophet Muhammad PBUH met Makkan emissaries who restricted the pilgrims to enter Makkah.
After long negotiations, both parties decided to resolve the matter without any war but with diplomacy. It was the time when the Treaty of Hudaybiah was founded. And it was Ali (RA) was the person who wrote it for Prophet Muhammad PBUH. and Prophet Muhammad PBUH signed the treaty himself.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Treaty of Hudaibiyah (Arabic: صلح الحديبية) took place in the month of Zulkaedah in the sixth year of the Hijrah (March 628 AD) and was signed between the Musyrikin of Mecca and Rasulullah S.A.W. Named the Hudaibiyah treaty after the name of the place where this treaty was signed.
Rasulullah S.A.W together with 1400 Muslims from Madinah went to Mecca to perform Hajj. When the Musyrikin found out about this, their representatives came to the Prophet to find out the purpose of the arrival of Muslims to Mecca.
So, Rasulullah S.A.W sent Uthman bin Affan to Mecca to explain the purpose to the representative of the Musyrikin.
Uthman bin Affan was arrested and word spread that he had been killed. The Muslims also pledged to "Baiah Ar Riduan" to avenge the death of Uthman with the Prophet under a tree. When the Quraish heard about the oath, the Quraish sent a messenger to make a treaty. Because the name of the agreement is named above the place where the agreement took place which is "Hudaibiyah".
Contents of the Treaty of Hudaibiyah such as:
1.The Messenger of Allah will have to return to Madinah instead of having entranced Mecca that year. The Muslim shall perform their pilgrimage on upcoming year and they would stay in peace at Mecca for three days with no arms except sheathed swords.
2.There will be a truce between both parties for ten years, whereby during this period all the people may enjoy safety and harmony.
3.Whoever wishes to enter into a covenant with the Prophet will be allowed to do so, and whoever wishes to enter into a covenant with the Quraish will be allowed to do so. Whoever enters into anyone of the parties, will be considered as a part of that party. Likewise, any sort of exaggeration on them will be considered as exaggeration against that party.
4.Whoever comes to Muhammad from Mecca fleeing away without having permission from his guardians, will be sent back to the Quraysh, but whoever come to the Quraysh from the Muslims will not be sent back to the Muslims. And the Writer of the treaty was Ali Ibn Abu Taleb.
