New building. To get married you need to fill a form (available at the site) 2 witnesses with Iqama. The father of the groom does NOT count as a witness!!

Had a walk-in here for re-authentication of our marriage certificate (as Jawazat said it's 24 years old; needed it for transferring me back to my husband's sponsorship). I didn't need an appointment, Alhamdulilah. I was directed to go to the 5th floor (for 'sajilat'). I showed my original marriage certificate & iqama. In no time, the officer came back with a file book and flipped to the page where my marriage contract was. Cool record-keeping! Swift retrieval - nothing digital! I was handed a filled out form in Arabic (as I am Arabic illiterate) and went to the ground floor for a signature (waiting time to get this done was 15 minutes; not bad though). Then to the 1st floor for a signature and a stamp ('wareed'; the form then was scanned) which took only a minute then back to the 5th floor. I was given a paper in Arabic (it has my old signature. It's a copy of the marriage document I signed 24 years ago. I was told then to go to the Criminal/Magistrate Court (King Abdulaziz Branch Rd, Ash Shati, Jeddah 23612) located near Red Sea Mall. They stamped both my marriage contract and the other marriage document copy with my signature. Took only a minute. I brought in colored photocopies of my marriage contract for stamping as well (for future use) but the officer said they could not do that. It is done at the court in Worood. (Wish the officer there had told me so esp when I made it clear that I wanted stamping on the photocopies as well). Overall, I am very pleased with their service. No queues. No inconvenience nor any hassles. Alhamdulilah. I got by with my very little Arabic. The staff were all helpful, courteous and approachable. Surprisingly, no payment at all! Fantastic public service indeed! There are desks outside the court in Al Worood. They offer assistance for a fee. I did not avail of it as I believed I could do it on my own inside. It was pretty easy. Thank you very much! The officer on the 5th floor is extremely patient and so kind as to write directions in Arabic & show the location of the other court in Ash Shati on my google maps. Thanks very much, sir! They deserve 7 stars!
