★ ★ ★ ★ ★ تم بناء السد عن طريق بعض أحفاد حضارة سبأ على إثر حادثة سيل العرم والجفاف ونزع البركة وفقدان الأمن التي تسببت في الشتات والهجرة، والمقصود بالأحفاد هم من الأزد المعروف بثماله الذي استوطن وادي جفن بعد هجرته من مأرب.
