โ โ โ โ โ The Al Mdarrag Restaurant is part of the Ushaiqer Heritage Village complex. This historic village was abandoned in the 1960s as oil revenues brought prosperity to the Kingdom. People moved to the city leaving the village to fall into disrepair. The restaurant provides authentic Bedouin cuisine in a family environment. It has all the traditional staples served on a buffet style. The decor sets off the traditional atmosphere in classic style.

โ โ โ โ โ Very interesting way to experience a simple traditional village food in rustic settings. Different dishes (essentially various stews and rice with meat) are presented in buffet style, so you load up a plate, which then weighted at the end of the line and you pay based on 50 SAR/kg price. For two people with reasonably loaded plates we paid 60 SAR which also included small salads and couple of drinks. Then families can sit (traditional style - on the ground) and consume their food in little cabin-like enclosures, while for singles there is a common open area in the shade of the palms.

โ โ โ โ โ This restaurant is part of a heritage complex, if you are living in Saudi and want to experience the ancient and traditional life which took place in the kingdom, this is a great place to visit. Apart from the delicious traditional Arabic food the place provides an amazing experience like no other. Visit the place during lunch over the weekend, relax in the sheds while sipping some traditional Arabic coffee (qahwa), and in the evening go for a walk around the area, experience heritage saudi households and museums, it's nice because it's different and hence its worth the travel of around 200kms in you are visiting from Riyadh city.

โ โ โ โ โ Great food, they offer traditional Najdi food.
The food is home made and taste like eating from someone's house.
The restaurant has a buffet and at the end they calculate the price from the weight.
The prices are not that expensive, consider eating here if you are planning to visit the village.
