The history of these wells goes back to an ancient time, when “Abraha al-Habashi” formed a great army, to demolish the honorable Kaaba, and convert the Qiblah, to the Kaaba that he built in his country. When the Abraha army reached the area of "Khath'am", its noble residents imposed an impossible condition on it, in return for accepting to allow it to pass. And he dug wells in rocky areas that are difficult to dig, with the aim of weakening his army, but he dug these wells, and their effects are still present until now, to become an important tourist attraction.
