قال الله تعالى: (يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُل لِّأَزْوَاجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَنِسَاءِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يُدْنِينَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِن جَلَابِيبِهِنَّ ذَلِكَ أَدْنَى أَن يُعْرَفْنَ فَلَا يُؤْذَيْنَ)،[١] فالحجاب هو الحصن الذي تحتمي به الفتاة من الأذى، وهو كذلك علامةٌ على أنّها فتاةٌ مستقلّةٌ، ولها شخصيّتها الخاصّة بها، وليس كلّ همّها أن تُثير الشهوات، فهي فتاة طائعة لأمر ربّها، مقتديةٌ بأمهات المؤمنين رضي الله عنهن، وليس بغيرهن ممّا لا همّ لهنّ سوى إظهار الفتنة والزخرفة الباطلة،[٢] والحجاب طهارةٌ لقلب الفتاة وقلب غيرها، لقول الله تعالى: (وَإِذَا سَأَلْتُمُوهُنَّ مَتَاعًا فَاسْأَلُوهُنَّ مِن وَرَاءِ حِجَابٍ ذَلِكُمْ أَطْهَرُ لِقُلُوبِكُمْ وَقُلُوبِهِنَّ).
